"Hating clouds the mind. It gets in the way of strategy. Leaders cannot afford to hate." Nelson Mandela
i don’t normally share many personal things on tumblr, but this masterpiece by Forough Farrokhzad is by far one of the most inspiring and astonishing documentaries I’ve ever experienced. I have cried more for this than most things and something inside me just tears open every time I see the last few scenes play out.
its as if her heart and soul were poured into each word. each face you see and every word you hear strikes a chord so loud that even after the 20 minute piece is over, you are left with nothing but awe and some echo of the truth and humanity softly screamed throughout the film.
forough’s words towards the end of the movie are hauntingly beautiful
our being, like a cage full of birds
is filled with moans of captivity
And none among us knows how long he will last
like doves we cry for justice and there is none
we wait for light and darkness reigns
I pledge allegiance to the Queen
I have to say I’m excited to watch this film tonight. It’s been forever since I last saw a film with Jared Leto as the main character.
